Is It Time To Ditch Your Eyeglasses?

LASIK Jacksonville, FLWith summer just around the corner, you are probably thinking about adding a few outfits to your wardrobe, getting your body in shape and ways to spend those wonderful summer nights. With so much emphasis on looking your best is it time to ditch your eyeglasses and have the LASIK vision correction that you have been daydreaming about?

What is LASIK Vision Correction?

LASIK vision correction is a procedure that corrects refractive errors that are currently fixed with your eyeglasses and contact lenses. Having a refractive error means that the shape of your cornea is abnormal. This makes the light that enters your eye bend, which leads to blurry vision. Today’s LASIK procedures can correct nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism.

How Much Can LASIK Fix My Vision?

Each patient is unique, so it is difficult to provide an exact measurement of visual acuity without an examination. The general guidelines for LASIK are that the procedure will correct the vision as much or more than eyeglasses or contact lenses. If you have 20/20 vision while wearing contact lenses and eyeglasses, that is what should be expected from your LASIK procedure. In some cases, visual acuity is better than what can be achieved with glasses and contact lenses.

How Long is the Recovery from LASIK Vision Correction?

The procedure for LASIK vision correction takes less than 15 minutes, and you are comfortable throughout the entire process. After the procedure, your eyes may feel irritated for a few days or weeks. We provide special eyedrops to keep your eyes moist. Excessive tearing is normal after LASIK vision correction, and you should not rub your eyes until they are fully healed. It may take one to two weeks for your vision to adjust after the procedure. During this time, you may experience occasional abnormalities, such as blurriness, halos and glare. You may have difficulty when driving at night.
